Mediterranean country chic

In this Greek house it is a tie between having breakfast in bed, on the terrace or on the roof. Tough choices to make early in the morning! I love the simplicity of this interior. There is nothing pretentious here.

I hope everybody had a great sunny weekend!

Modern Mykonos weekend retreat

Mykonos is one of the numerous wonderful islands in Greece. Try and visit if you are in the area. The home here is a weekend house of an Athens family. Granted, it is a bit aspirational but I loved the contrast of materials (rustic stone walls vs. smooth white walls) used and the sculptural staircase. The infinity pool on the roof is not too shabby either.

Greek life

Ah, Mykonos, a place that comes pretty close to paradise on earth. The white washed house, the pool, the view of the azur blue sea... The interior is simple but not boring because designer pieces (especialy mid-century chairs) are mixed with more traditional handmade furniture. I like the 'built in' shower- it looks very organic. Pretty handy to have your own chapel, too, non? (See last photo). The owners got married there. How lovely!

A home for the Greek Gods

This unusal house nestled in a couple natural caves is located on the beautiful and chic Greek island of Santorini. There was probably already some kind of human abode here for at least a 1000 years. It reminds me of the ice hotels I posted about - a southern version of it.

The owner, a photographer, left the house as simple and natural as he could with traditional whitewashed walls and sparse furnishing.

I've been to a natural cave house (not this one unfortunately) and the climate inside is amazing - you never want to go back to airconditioning (which is bad for the enviroment anyway).

Isn't this a place fit for an ancient greek God?

Pure escapism

I am in denial. They predicted snow in Paris tonight so I did what every sane person would do and plotted my escape. What are you all thinking of this hotel, Hotel Mystique, on the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece? I have been to numerous Greek islands over the years but never Santorini for some unexplicable reason.

Goodbye to summer

A garden on the Greek island of Sérifos. Summer (and my trip - more later) is truly over so here is goodbye to summer and hello to autumn.

What do you like about autumn? Do you incorporate the seasons into your interior?
