Grand european bedrooms

Photos: Pinterest

I am dreaming about sleeping in such a grand European bedroom and listen to jazz, or maybe classical music (from hidden speakers as not to disturb the decor). The first bedroom from Portugal is more cosy and perfect for winter whereas the second bedroom is airy and best for summer.

Funny coincidence that the beds in these photos are 'unmade' since I've mentioned it in a post that I've noticed European beds are messy.

Refined palette

Analog Girl, a european chic reader from Portugal requested that I feature more of Portugal. Am always glad to get feedback. I browsed my favourite travel sites (very hard task, I know) and found a luxury spa in a former palace on the Algarve in Southern Portugal. The vibrant colours struck a chord with me. Each room is differently decorated and I like how the old palace and the new buildings come together.

You can find the address of Bela Vista Hotel and Spa at the end of the post.

I am also delighted to report that my I was picked for a a Versatile Blogger Award from lovely fellow Italian/Spanish blogger Fancy Windows. She writes about european chic:
Minimal and eclectic as she describes her cute blog.
Many, many thanks, Eva! It made my day! (I would also personally thank her if I had her email address)

Portugese libary

Photo: Sonnabend Gallery, New York

Who wants to study in Portugal? Me! Isn't the Biblioteca Geral da Universidade de Coimbra (photographed by famous photographer Candida Höfer) stunning! I would never look at my books being distracted by the ornamental beauty around me.

The fisherman's dream

When I saw this weekend house I thought: Wow, this must be located on an exotic island! It turned out that this former fishermen hut (how romantic!) is 1 1/2 hours from from the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
How sweet is the bedroom with the purple bedspread and mosquito net? And the colourful paper lamps
on the deck and the kitchen?

Lisbon garden

As winter is approaching I feel the 'sudden urge' to peruse every article about beautiful gardens
in Europe I can get my paws on. Funny how that happens because in summer I tend to read about chalet styles in Switzerland.

This garden in Lisbon, Portugal has the most impressive blue tiles I have ever seen in Europe and I want to install them in my flat. Now. You find more beautiful tiles here.

I can highly recommend The Gardens of Portugal book which features not only the garden in this post but lots of other Portuguese gardens:

Buddha in Lisbon

A boutique hotel in in a restored late XVIII century building in downtown Lisbon, designed by Portuguese architect and decorator Miguel Câncio Martins of Buddha bar (Paris) fame. I think the Hotel Heritage Av. Liberdade conveys a luxurious yet cosy feeling. I am quite keen on the wallpaper in the lobby.
