Farmhouse in the Netherlands

I heart this renovated Dutch barn! The glazed tiles used throughout the house are Amazing with a capital A. I also like the idea with the differently painted doors to mix things up and make the hallway more visually interesting. The floor in the living room reminds me of the floors in appartment builings in the city.

Modern design in The Netherlands

Clean lines, unexpected patterns and design classics make one cool house. I really like the carpet in the dining room above and the stained glass windows in the doors on the first floor. I would also not mind a round skylight in my bathroom either!

Design between heaven and earth

The former Kruisheren cloister, dating from the fifteenth century, is located in the centre of Maastricht, The Netherlands. Together with the monumental gothic church, this complex has been transformed into an awesome designer hotel. Isn't the modern tunnel-like entrance amazing?

And how much do I want a wine cellar similar to the one shown at the very end of this post?! My neighbour P. here in Paris has a very sizeable wine cellar in the beautiful medieval caves he recently renovated and which I totally plan on taking over one day.

This is what I call a well-stocked wine cellar...

EDIT: I forgot to include this lovely image of the libary housed in the former church above the wine bar.

Grey + orange

Orange and grey is such a great combination! It's calming and uplifting. The shelfs and low hanging lamps are übercool.
Have a great week, everybody! As always, comments are very much appreciated.

A magical place in Amsterdam

A while ago we spend a few happy days in the chic The Toren Hotel in central Amsterdam. The Toren is located on Keizersgracht in a typical wealthy merchant building constructed in 1618. The family-owned boutique hotel was designed by Win van de Wetering and is a stone throws away from the lively Joordan neighbourhood and around the corner from the Anne Frank Huis. Win's design is opulent and warm but not overwhelming. Unfortunately, I forgot to take my own photos of the hotel.

The colourful flat

I love house tours. It is always exciting to see how other people live. Today I came across this beautiful flat in Amsterdam with bursts of colours!

A Kartell lamp designed by our very own Philippe Starck.

Orange walls in the conservatory paired with pink chairs is a daring choice - but it works.
