Two rooms in 40 Winks

Yes, you read correctly, I am showing you one of the smallest hotels out there with only two rooms (think about booking a loooooong time in advance!) 40 Winks is located in the trendy East End and it feels like staying with good (and wealthy) friends. There is also a communal sitting room and dining room.

Yellow + blue

I love, love, love the combination of a dark greyish-greenish blue with a sunny and inviting saffron ochre yellow. The lavender roses are a perfect accent colour.

Have a nice weekend, everybody! Paris is sunny today so we are off to the Jardin des Plantes.

The new rustic and modern

Hello everybody! I am back from Italy (actually, I nearly flew to Kuwait on my way from Paris to Rome - I literally noticed just before they closed the doors of the airplane that this was my 'stop'). I shall download the pictures I took in Italy this weekend but for now enjoy looking at this amazing house in Casciago, Italy. Did you notice the different floors in each room? And the exposed walls? They go so well with the classic modern furniture. I am so envious of the gallery library in the living room.

A touch of pink and gold

A Norwegian living room. Pink and gold look modern and fresh here. The space has great lamps, don't you think. They add a certain je ne sais quoi touch.

Spring bouquet!

Design Sponge (collage by European Chic)

It looks like as if spring has finally arrived in Western Europe! This coming weekend we switch to summertime. When you live in central Paris you have to go out and buy nature, so here are a couple lovely spring bouquets.

Let's celebrate 150 years Italian unification

Today is the 150th anniversary of Italian unification. Thanks, Signore Garibaldi! My dear friend R., an Italian expat living in Paris, forwarded me this link to the cute brooch book. It measures approx. 3 x 2cm, is made from recycled paper and has a leather cover I thought it would be the perfect present for Italy lovers today.

How very Marcel Duchamp

I think this lovely decorative stand which reminds me of Marcel Duchamp's artwork needs no explanation.

Modern & small

We are starting the week in Paris. Since small is the new big and I am somewhat obsessed with small spaces today I wanted to share with you a 35 m2 studio in my home town. Putting the kitchen in the center and adding glass walls is such a clever use of space! Hiding the washing machine in a tiled cover under the bathroom sink is another chic solution. Of course, I love the Panton chairs, as always.

Storage solutions II

Photo: Marie Claire Maison

If you dig pink like in the image above check out this post)

After the wildly popular first instalment of storage solutions I am back today with more ideas. Since we tend to have little space in Europe we need to think about finding stylish solutions to store our stuff (or, ahem, recycle/upcycle/throw it away/donate to charity).
