Hallway in blue

Today I heart a welcoming hallway in a pretty blue hue.

Smitten with dreamy beds

All photos: Ditte Isager Photography

I am totally smitten with these dreamy beds in an enchanted forest. I can totally see myself relaxing here browsing a book or two.

I am currently reading a play called 'I am the Wind' by Norwegian playwright Jon Fosse. It is postmodern and very beautifully written. We recently watched the play, too.

What are you reading? Any suggestions for me?

Happy weekend with vases

Photo: Schoener Wohnen Germany

Have a wonderful fun-filled weekend, folks! And thanks for sticking around this week.
Vases (and flowers) are a great way to change your interior. Which vase do you like best? I cannot decide.

French Impressions VI

Another edition of French Impressions.... Sometimes one needs a break from city life. So you go and visit your friends living in the countryside who are delighted that someone makes an effort to go all the way out there. Yours truly went to the pitoresk town of Louveciennes near Paris.

Here is a short history lesson: The gatehouse in the last photo is part of the Château du Barry built in 1700, on order of Louis XIV, for Arnold de Ville, engineer of la Machine de Marly in Louveciennes.
Inhabited by various grandchildren of Louis XIV during the first half of the 18th century and finally given to Madame du Barry by Louis XV in 1769 upon her elevation to the title of principle mistress of the king. It was here that Madame du Barry was arrested during the French Revolution. Exciting stuff, eh? Ok, I am taking off my history hat now.

Dining room styles!

Photo: Living etc.

Dining room galore, my friends! Wildly different styles but why choose one decor if you can have it all (at least on a blog)?

Globetrotter vibes

A bunch of lovely chandeliers and vintage suitcases cought my fancy today. I've been collecting vintage suitcases for ages because you can always store something in them and they add texture and some globetrotter vibes to a room.

Arts and crafts house

I came across a lovely detached Thirties Arts and Crafts house in Brondesbury, London, today with some lovely quirky details. I dig the hot pink conversation sofa in the dressing room (which matches the headboard in the master bedroom), the playroom next to the kitchen and the china plates decorated with birds and flowers above the dresser in the spacious hallway. What do you like?

Funky armchairs

Photo: unknown

Good morning, folks! We have a day off in France today but it shall not keep me from blogging. These bright armchairs add fun and whimsey to every room. Think about having several in different bold colours around the fireplace. Which colour do you like best?

Form follows function

Form follows indeed function here with the product's smooth, elegant curves. Henning Koppel's designs look classy and timeless. Henning Koppel (1918 - 1981) was a Danish designer who worked, among others, for legendary silversmith Georg Jensen.

This post is for my blogger friend. R. because I think Koppel's design is his cup of tea. (I hope I am right).

Boho chic in Paris

A laid back boho loft in the Bastille area of Paris. A stylist couple converted a former factory (600m2 - gasp!!) and  initially decorated it in a more 'traditional' loft design (minimalist, industrial) before they decided to totally change their style and go ethnic and colourful. Bravo! This place oozes with happy vibes.

This morning my copy of The Meghan Method arrived. I'll write a review as soon as I've finished reading it.

Italian Impressions VI

Fleamarketing at Porta Portese in Trastevere, a hip neighbourhood in Rome. Be prepared to bargain hard and be tempted by what is on offer. The selection is wild and includes all price points and, how shall I put this, varying degrees of quality. In any case it is impossible to leave empty-handed, trust me.
Reader M. from New Hampshire wanted to see more photos of European everyday life (in this case: every weekend) so this post is for her.

Oh, these chandeliers were so pretty. Next time...
