The other day I walked past Campo Marzio on - you guessed it - via di Campo Marzio in Rome. What colourful writing accessories can be found here! I am afraid that the images here do not do justice to the leathercoated baskets, notebooks, trays, and pens. Luckily they have shops all over the world.

Merci in Paris is an amazing design store selling furntiture, kitchenware, jewellry, designer clothes for adults and children, perfume, stationary (yay!), and used books. There are also two lovely cafes and a restaurant. Merci is located in a beautifully renevated old industrial space. The best thing is that all profits are given to charity in Madagaskar. Think of it as a bobo third world store. Here you can indulge in design AND feel like you are contributing to a worthy cause.

Rococo revival

Rococo is en vogue. Even IKEA, poster child for pure Swedish style,  has been jumping on the bandwagon although their furniture are toned down. Rococo became a popular style in Europe between 1700 - 1750. A fine example of rococo architecture is Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna, Austria. I can highly recommend visiting the Schloss and the surrounding park.

Don't you agree that rococo style is truly 'European Chic' (as long as it it sparsely used).

Camping in style

Do you like camping? You´ll certainly like this stylish camp resort south of Bergerac in France. The camp fits perfectly with ´ European Style´s´ aesthetics. Each tent is uniquely styled and the restaurant, pool and cafe are beautifully conceptualised. I love the white dining room! This camp is on my list of future travel destinations.

What a happy place! A fun bubble lamp, a bourgeouis bust, and mismatched chairs. I would have never thought that pink striped walls and colourful artwork can work so well together like in this dining room in Copenhagen. I think it works becasue the colour palette is simple (mainly white and natural wood) with one wall that is bursting with colours. The room would have lacked 'punch' had the back wall also been white.

When dogs bake

This was just too adorable to pass on even if not design related (and perhaps too cutsy cute). My friend P. sent me these photos to brighten my day. Thank you, P.!

Jane Austen' house

I always find it fascinating to see how writers lived. Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life living in Chawton,  Hampshire. Here Jane wrote Mansfield Park, Emma, and Persuasion. Today the 17th century house has become the Jane Austen's House Museum which is open to the public.

Bright & beautiful

Hello Friends! Isn´t this a yummy interior? A bright yellow wall and seagreen tiles in the conservatory combined with mid century chairs in powder blue and a polished hardwood floor. I've had this photo in my file for a while and don't remember where this living room is located (Possibly Portugal) but I wanted to share it with you nevertheless.

Haithabu Viking living

This is a very special post. Today I am going to show truly European interiors - like it existed 1100 years ago. Yes, that´s right. Haithabu was the largest and most important commercial center in Northern Europe between 900 and 1100. Today this viking settlement it is an outdoor museum located in Northern Germany near the Danish border.

The oven works and, apparently, a group of archaeology students prepared a roast in the same amount of time it would have taken in a modern oven.

Child play

I was talking to my friend A., who has a little boy S., about design furniture for children.
