French Impressions V

Today I take you an a tour looking at some of the numerous tourist attractions Paris has to offer. When you live here you can easily forget how many amazing tourist attractions we have in our city.

I don't think that I need to introduce the Tour Eiffel to you.

Below the Jardin de Plantes in the 5th arrondissement:

Below: the Bouqinistes selling books along the Seine.

Below: The famous literary cafe Les deux Margots in the 6th arrondissement.

.....and a graffitti I photographed in the Marais. Do you like it?

Istanbul was Constantinople

I fell in love with the designs from Turkish design duo Autoban when I first discovered them in 2004 in Wallpaper magazine. If you have been following my blog you know that I like visiting Turkey from time to time. So today we are going to see how Seyhan Özdemir and Sefer Çağlar, the two designers behind Autoban, live in Istanbul. I love hanging out in Istanbul and I am sure you will, too.
Initially, this post was a guest post contribution but when it was not picked up I decided to post it here on European Chic as you would surely want to see this amazing flat.

Greetings from the birthday girl! It is a beautiful day to celebrate today.

House on Brighton beach

I cannot say what I like best about this treasure in Brighton, UK. Some highlights of this six bedrom pad: The reused old door frame as a headboard; the colourful boxes as storage space in the hallway. The sea blue tiles in the living room, the wishbone chairs, the rustic farmers kitchen sink, the grand entrance with the staircase, etc.

What do you like best about this house?

Show your glassware

Photo: House Doctor

This industrial looking trolley is a cute way to exhibit a collection of unusal coloured and shaped glasses and vases.

This image shall (hopefully) set the tone for the blog's first birthday on the 19th (and mine ten days earlier on the 9th).

Italian Impressions V

Finally, finally, I downloaded my Italy photos for you. I want to show you the proud town of Campli in the mountains. It has cute squares, lots of churches and chapels and a very unique praying staircase with  beautiful paintings. This so so unique and wonderful that the UNESCO declared it part of humanities World Heritage.

Scandinavian shabby chic

We haven't looked at a Swedish house for a while, so today I discovered this jewel of a house. Simple shabby chic! The house in central Angelholm, Sweden, is from 1935, and features the most darling windows and tiled fireplace (Can I ever get enough of Swedish fireplaces? Ok, it's a rhetoric question.). I like the contrasting texture used in the decorating scheme of shiny mercury glass and weaved baskets.

You didn't have enough yet? Check out this pad and this one.
