Design heaven

My childhood design guru, Sir Terence Conran, designed The Boundary hotel in trendy Shoreditch. Each of the 12  rooms and 5 suites is designed differently ranging from Shaker style to mid century modern. I couldn't even decide where to stay. As one would expect from Sir Conran he uses loads of design classics to furnish the rooms, restaurant and sublime rooftop garden.

The hotel opened two years ago and I haven't been there yet but I'd like to visit next time I am in London. Has anyone been there? What did you think?

 I heart Eileen Grey!

Small is the New Big

In my home town you will have no problem buying a mini-flat that measures 9 or 10 square meters - if you can afford it. The flat I want to show today is one of my favourite teeny tiny Parisian flat which is stylish and makes good use of the space.

The flat measures a mere 16 square meters and is a former concierge flat. The ceilings are 4 meters high so the owner decided to built a mezzanine to house the bathroom (2 square meters) and the office/bedroom (a rolled up futon). I especially like the built-in TV and the staircase.

Would you have thought it possible to live so stylish on 16 square meters?

Mid-century in happy colours

Is it by pure chance that every time I stumble upon a Belgian flat I a) instantly fall in love with it and b) the flat is always colourful and happy?
This vintage flat is gorgeous. I have major chair envy, I mean look at all these great chairs!

German Impressions V

Frankfurt am Main has a gorgeous Japanese Chinese garden. I apologise to my readers from China who may not be so impressed because I really like this garden. Pure and simple.
P.S. I wished I knew what it says above the entrance!?

The fisherman's dream

When I saw this weekend house I thought: Wow, this must be located on an exotic island! It turned out that this former fishermen hut (how romantic!) is 1 1/2 hours from from the Portuguese capital Lisbon.
How sweet is the bedroom with the purple bedspread and mosquito net? And the colourful paper lamps
on the deck and the kitchen?
