Sea Of Times

I haven't specifically blogged about art in interior but when I saw Berlin artist Angela Frübing's paintings I felt that I should showcase her wonderful work and versatility. The painting above is a landscape from the baltic sea in Germany. A great art work can totally transform a room. You should also check out her Chinese paintings on her website.
(Does the title of the post remind you of a song?)

Vintage stationery

 All photos: Cavallini & Co

In today's post I can combine my love for stationery with my love for everything Europe! Although the brand is not European, the designs they use are very much based on European vintage designs and everything is for sale in quite a few European countries as far as I have seen..

Monastry in Switzerland

Photo: Pinterest

The Monastery Madonna del Sasso is located in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, arguebly one of the most beautiful places on earth. It combines the best of two worlds - Italian laid backness with Swiss hospitality and organisationial skills - making it a perfect place for your vacation.

Parisian Industrial chic

Can you be believe that this cool industrial space in Belleville in Paris used to be a parking garage?! Talk about an amazing transformation. I wished Marie Claire Maison would have shown some 'before' photos, too, to fully appreciate the transformation. I love the textured walls and the libary wall with the collage.

View of Vilnius (Lithuania)

Photo: Pinterest

I am still focussed on central and eastern Europe and came across this pretty view of Lithuania's capital, Vilnius. Have you visited? What did you see? I quite like to go and check out the design scene myself.
Remember this beautiful place?

Russian gothic restaurant

I like this gothic chic ambiente. Ultra-cool! Especially the curiosity cabinet (last photo) which were very popular during the 16th - 18th century in Europe where the wealthy showed off exotic collectors items such as skulls, shells and feathers.
I wished such a restaurant also existed in Paris where chic and street art are skillfully mixed.

Crowd sourcing

Photo: VTwonen magazine

Fleamarkets are simply delightful. You never know what hidden treasures you may find. Usually, not the item you were looking for but something you didn't even know you needed. And do not even get me started on bargaining - I love the thrill of negotiating! I've noticed that this is culturally determined. In some countries vendors do not want to barter whereas in others it is part of the game. Do you have any funny fleamarket story to share?

Farmhouse in the Netherlands

I heart this renovated Dutch barn! The glazed tiles used throughout the house are Amazing with a capital A. I also like the idea with the differently painted doors to mix things up and make the hallway more visually interesting. The floor in the living room reminds me of the floors in appartment builings in the city.

Castle garden in Leipzig

Happy weekend to everybody! I am starting to smell spring here in my corner of the world so I specifically looked at gardens and fell in love with this beautiful door in the castle garden in Leipzig, a city in Eastern Germany. It looks like the entrance to the Secret Garden, doesn't it?

Modern Mykonos weekend retreat

Mykonos is one of the numerous wonderful islands in Greece. Try and visit if you are in the area. The home here is a weekend house of an Athens family. Granted, it is a bit aspirational but I loved the contrast of materials (rustic stone walls vs. smooth white walls) used and the sculptural staircase. The infinity pool on the roof is not too shabby either.

Different shades of blue

Photo: Design Sponge

I love the boldness of this living room in Glasgow, Scotland. Different shades of blue are contrased with crisp white and flower pattern.

Would you paint your living room blue?

Terrific Turkish architecture

Photo: Pinterest

Haven't been to Turkey in a while which makes me miss the place. I do not know where the photos above were taken but they are absolutely terrific. Imagine living in place like this. Actuall it reminds me of this place.
