Chic Swedish design

Pretty chic home, right? I particular like the use of different wallpapers thoughout the house. It adds just the right amount of pattern and colours to an otherwise very Scandi chic home. The bones of the place are amazing and the idea in the bedroom of adding a wall behind which is the walk-in closet is a fantastic idea.

A tent of her own

Photo: Stella Nicolaisen (Stylist)

There are moments in life where you need a tent and if you are keen on design you may be inspired by the tent above. I certainly was. It could be your private Room-Of-Her-Own where you write, read and craft. Long live Virginia Woolf for shouting it out!

Swiss goodies

It is time for a little desktop travelling this fine evening. My destination is the largest city in Switzerland. The Widder Hotel in Zuerich is made up of nine historical former residences, many dating back to the Middle Ages.  By intermingling single buildings via staircases, porticos and inner courtyards a very atypic architecture has been created.

Modern design in The Netherlands

Clean lines, unexpected patterns and design classics make one cool house. I really like the carpet in the dining room above and the stained glass windows in the doors on the first floor. I would also not mind a round skylight in my bathroom either!

Forgotten mansion in Poland

Photo: Pinterest

This forgotten mansion makes me want to start writing a story exploring how the house became abandoned. The fading beauty of the mansion would make for a melancholic story, wouldn't it? Or a sort of European Grey Gardens story, perhaps. In any case, very inspiring.

French Impressions IX

European Chic reader Eileen was so kind to send me some photos from her trip to Southern France. Her photos were so great that I decided to devide them into two parts. Today I've uploaded the photos from Bordeaux and next week from her trip to the country side (think vine yards!).
My favourite photo is the graffito at the very end.

Modern garden hut

Photo: Marie Claire Maison

Remember this post? Well, browsing MC I came across this small cabane and liked how the design integrates in the forrest, and (supposedly) offers a gret view. Ahh, I want to lie on that day bed and read my books and read my favourite interior magazines

Bauhaus for dogs

Ever since my beloved dog died in late November there has been an empty spot (dog owners understand the pain of losing your dog) but now I am thinking of adopting a new dog. If I had a garden I would want to have this ultra modern Bauhaus dog house! Talk about light and airy and yet city chic.

Eiffel tower inspired wardrobe

Photo: Brigitte

For the DIY among you, readers! Pretty nifty idea to create your own Eiffel-tower shaped wardrobe out of recycled apple crates. Just add a few hooks and you are all set. Looks easy enough....

Italian touch

Would youhave guessed that this flat is in Milan? (Ok, ok, the title was a hint.) I like the reduced colour palette and the feminin touches. Hanging a large golden mirror horizonal instead of vertically in the bathroom is a fantastic idea which I may steal. I am also sure that I saw a very similar if not the same staircase in another flat recently.
