Masculine chic

Happy Sunday! Hope the weather is better where you live. We had lots of rain last night but I think once I posted this I will go out and walk in the Jardin de Luxembourg decked out in rain boots en cas ou.

A European Chic reader, K., from South Korea (how cool is that !?) asked of I could show some more 'masculine' interiors and I was too happy to oblige.

I love this 60 squarementer Danish flat for its bold use of charcoal black shiny floors, Scandinavian minimalism which is married with Asian accent such as the vases and the dragon hanging in the bedroom. Very unusual.

Cool Cologne flat

Hallway

 A cool and colorful Cologne flat because beige is boooring. This flat is home to a German actress and her 10-year old daughter. The inspiration was Romania. (Which reminds me; has anyone seen Gadjo Dillo, a French movie? Great sets and soundtrack.) The flat has fantastic bones and lots of pops of bohemian colour sprinkled throughout.

Ice hotels

How is everybody? Did you recover from the festivities and ready to indulge in more European design?

I've been turning north these last few days browsing ice hotels in Sweden and Norway. Here is an edited collection of my favourite photos from the flickr ice hotel group.

Has anyone been to an ice hotel? How was it? I think the photos are amazing (from the cosy confines of my sofa here in Paris...). Who knew that one could be so creative with ice? I read that tons of artists apply every year to design a part of the hotel which - obviously - has to be rebuilt each winter.
